Ruben Ganev is a Bulgarian producer, DJ and label owner, with 15 years experience in sonic craftsmanship under his belt. Born in Sofia of Armenian heritage, Ganev has spent 11 years away from his homeland exploring his potential and refining his craft. With his latter years spent in Berlin, Ganev has also resided in the UK, where he graduated in Sound Design at London’s University of Arts in 2011.
In 2020 Ganev founded his own label, mould.audio, a platform to fuse his musical inspirations and experiences, intertwined with his explorations from residing in Berlin for 5 years.
Ruben touches upon a lot of strong theoretical points and shares a few things about his workflow, we welcome him to show us his signature unorthodox yet effective methods of how he arranges drum parts, carves out room for each and every sound with great detailing. Ruben Ganev is a Bulgarian producer, DJ and label owner, with 15 years experience in sonic craftsmanship under his belt. Born in Sofia of Armenian heritage, Ganev has spent 11 years away from his homeland exploring his potential and refining his craft. With his latter years spent in Berlin, Ganev has also resided in the UK, where he graduated in Sound Design at London’s University of Arts in 2011.
Born into a family of classical musicians, Ganev aspired towards this path and played the piano for 8 years as a child.
This led him to begin experimenting with sound, exploring different genres of music spanning from hip hop to dub and ambient.
These experiences led him to gradually develop thorough understandings of sound and to develop his own signature style of techno, with which he eloquently expresses himself nowadays.
In 2020 Ganev founded his own label, mould.audio, a platform to fuse his musical inspirations and experiences, intertwined with his explorations from residing in Berlin for 5 years.
The productions released on the imprint, under his real name, reflect his mature form of expression, developed and refined for years before their recent emergence. The label and its output have since then been receiving support from artists such as:
