We welcome Rico Casazza to showcase his unique workflow of creating Electro/Breakbeat with IDM elements by means of a breakdown of one of his most popular tracks ‘Biological Drive’

Viewers can expect to learn from his approach of creating and processing electro-driven drums, bass, synthlines and even creating FX using vocal chops and so on. Rico will be using Ableton Live for the session but the techniques shown here can be applied on any DAW of your choice.

Italian-born Rico Casazza is a multi-talented artist, earning recognition as a DJ, electronic music producer, and film sound designer in the last decade. He relocated to London at the age of 19, where he spent 20 years deeply entrenched in the vibrant electronic music scene for which the UK is renowned.

During his youth, he refined his skills in the underground music scene of the early 2000s, immersing himself in the emergence of Dubstep, Breakbeat, and South London’s Tech House, among other musical genres. This era profoundly influenced his artistic development, and its impact continues to shape his signature sound to this day.

Rico’s music production is a fusion of these influences and his own imaginative flair. He is best recognized for his records that explore Minimal, Techno, Electro, and Dub, delivering dark dystopian and enigmatic melodic landscapes. His music has cultivated a devoted following of fans who are captivated by his distinctive soundscape. With an extensive discography boasting 22 EPs, 6 full albums, 18 remixes, and counting, Rico has firmly established his reputation as a seasoned music producer.

As a performer, Rico has graced stages throughout Europe, Mexico, India, and the US, earning acclaim for his DJ sets, which are laser-focused on Dancefloor vibes, occasionally infused with ambient and downtempo elements. His recent performance at Boiler Room in Goa, India, solidified his status. Beyond music, Rico’s artistic prowess extends into the realm of film as a Sound Designer and Sound Recordist. He seamlessly integrates his musical background into his work, crafting tailor-made electronic ambient pieces for films.

Furthermore, Rico hosts a YouTube channel where he imparts his extensive knowledge, offering tutorials on music production using Ableton Live software and film sound design. His channel has garnered a loyal following of over 2k subscribers.

Currently residing in Prague, Czech Republic, after two decades of life in London, Rico continues to push the boundaries of artistry with his distinct sound signature and unwavering passion for music.
